- Philip Erdelsky leads a Monthly Hike in San Diego County, California
- The San Diego Chapter of the Sierra Club leads many hikes in the area. They publish a bimonthly newsletter, the Hi-Sierran for chapter members. The online edition now includes the hikes, although they had previously been excluded from their website.
To receive the printed copy with the hikes, you need to join the Sierra Club, and will automatically become a member of the San Diego Chapter if you live in San Diego or Imperial Counties. Otherwise, you need to specify that you wish to be part of the San Diego Chapter, which will replace your otherwise-default chapter assignment.
- Terry Hunefeld's Upcoming Nature Activities in San Diego County has a list of links to parks and preserves that have free nature hikes.
- The San Diego Hiking Club, North County chapter, meets on the second Wednesday of every month in Encinitas. For information, call 685-8681 and leave your name and address to receive a newsletter.
- Walkabout International has a very complete monthly walk calendar and newsletter, listing walks for nearly every day of each month.
- Ham Radio Operators have a Hikers' Net at 9 p.m. on Friday nights, used to arrange future hikes. Some of the hikes that are scheduled more in advance are posted on their website.
- The American Volkssport Association has regular "walking events". See their list of California clubs, which includes clubs in Fallbrook, Coronado, San Diego and Escondido.
- Guided Adventures In Nature, half-day, full-day, and multi-day hikes, bikes, and kayak guided trips, which of course requires a fee.
