A number of people have put some beautiful pictures on the web. This page indexes those pictures. Pictures often contain many things, so check nearby locations if you want a more complete sample of pictures that might interest you. Also, each picture usually appears in only one table, so each individual table is not complete.
This page is far from complete. Here's the list of the few sites that I have comprehensively indexed, but pictures appear below from many more sites that were not comprehensively indexed.

The SPIN-2 Russian satellite covered a large portion of the ANF in 1989 with its 2-meter resolution images. The images are served by Microsoft's Terraserver Image Database. Maps that correspond to the images are available, but they are not exactly on the same scale as the images. I failed twice to figure out where the pictures were, but Jane Strong gave me a known point on one image so that I could finally decipher the images. She also suggested I provide a link to these fascinating pictures.
In the table below, I have supplied a link directly to the map which approximately matches each image. If you end up playing with the map to get a closer match to an image, please send me the url and I'll replace my approximate image match with your closer match.
The size of images displayed is 3 x 4 miles ("small window size") to 8 x 8 miles ("large window size"). The default map image uses a much larger scale. The links below are to the 8 x 8 mile images and maps. I have simply somewhat arbitrarily stepped along the satellite scan to provide roughly neighboring pieces of the scan. From any image below, you can scroll the image to see all other parts of the scan.
The images linked below are arranged as in the following table, with overlaps of 50%, and are in a peculiar-looking fashion due to the northeast/southwest orientation of the SPIN-2 scan. There are more images to the north of these images, so simply scroll the picture and map to explore those areas.

Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) Photos
SRTM does not take photos directly, but instead calculates the altitude of every point it observes. Hence the "pictures" are actually topographic maps, but as everyone knows, topographic maps make pretty interesting pictures.

Portions of the SGM are also in the Los Angeles and Pasadena pictures, including a red-green 3D picture ("anaglyph"), linked from their list.
The Airborne Visible InfraRed Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) instrument observes from 400 to 2500 nanometers from a NASA ER-2 airplane (a U2 plane modified for increased performance) at approximately 20 km above sea level. Its Altadena and Mt. Wilson Area photo taken on September 27th, 1993 is an amazing picture. The Mt. Wilson Toll Road and similar dirt roads stand out clearly. Mark Stopfer has put online a portion of that picture and labeled some of the landmarks, as well as modifying the contrast and saturation.
