Flora of Williams area along AZ64 north of I-40

Checklist

See map showing this floral area with iNat observations plotted.

The checklist is in the traditional order of lycopods, ferns, conifers, dicots, and monocots. The scientific names are in the system used by Seinet as of 22 September 2021 to 6 September 2022.

The column Famil gives the first five letters in the family name.

The column ID indicates whether there is uncertainty about the species determination. A "~" in this column indicates it is a probable determination. A "?" in this column indicates the species given is just a guess.

The Scientific Name is linked to the SEINet page on each taxon. The SEINet pages usually contain abundant photographs of each taxon, along with a description of it. Note that some links might go to a page with a different Scientific Name that is synonymous with the name given here.

An asterisk before the common name indicates a non-native species. Surprisingly, I can't find a list of Arizona plants that denotes whether a species is native or not, so I've had to add the asterisks mostly by hand. If I have made a mistake on any, please let me know.

The column with header "SN" indicates that a taxon was on a list retrieved from Seinet on 19 September 2021 using a 5 km radius centered on 35.29171, -112.14037, a location on AZ64 just north of I-40.

The column with header "V" indicates that there is a voucher of that taxon retrieved from Seinet on 19 September 2021 in the rectangle from 35.257 to 35.325° N. latitude, and -112.161 to -112.135° E. Longitude if there is a "V" in this column. If there is a "V'" in this column, that taxon was mentioned as an associated species in a voucher of another species.

The column with header "iN" indicates that there was an iNat observation of that taxon in the same rectangular area as for the voucher search, from an updated search on 4 September 2022.

The column with header "TC" indicates that a taxon was observed by Tom Chester in the National Forest area along AZ64 north of I-40, from many stops in that area over the years, or along AZ45 (the road to Kaibab Lake), including in the area of Kaibab Lake itself, on a single stop with Don Rideout in 2021.

This checklist should be treated as a list of species that potentially might be found in this area, since there is no guarantee any determination from any source is correct.

See iNat observations for this area which include observations not determined to the species level. As of 6 September 2022, this iNat search returned 174 observations of 81 species. Don Rideout (@lagoondon) was the leading contributor, with 33 observations of 29 species, followed by Stephanie Cobbold (@scobbold) with 20 observations of 10 species. Tom Chester (@tchester) is the leading identifier, with 62 identifications, followed by Steve Jones (@stevejones) with 32.
