This version of the Checklist is in rough order of plants along the trail, from Mt. Laguna (Desert Overlook) to Kitchen Creek Road, (north to south!) for the first 198 species in the list. Species that were not seen in the field survey, but which were vouchered from or near the trail, are given at the end of the list (marked with a V in the ID? column).
The plant trail order is not exact for two reasons. First, two different surveys, at quite different times of the year with different species visible in each survey, were merged to produce this list. Unfortunately, the second survey did not have the list from the first survey to help rectify the lists, as is normally done. Second, species were sometimes spotted at different locations in the different surveys. Often, when a species is in bloom it is spotted much earlier than when it is not in bloom. Hence it was more difficult than usual to reconcile the trail order lists from the two surveys.
For species seen on the trail, the column ID? gives the uncertainty of the determination; see abbreviation for the determination uncertainties.
