Plants of Southern California: Trail Guides
Introduction and Explanation of Trail Guides
This page is an index to only our Plant Trail Guides. Many other areas have floras, but no trail guides, and are given in the index to Floras. Consult that list for floras of a particular area..
Also see Pacific Crest Trail Floras by RT and Shaun Hawke, many of which are in trail guide order.
The lists are organized by the geographic subdivisions of Southern California as given in the Jepson Manual, 1993, and are ordered roughly north to south and then west to east for areas roughly at the same latitude, both for the subdivisions and within each subdivision. As each plant list is put online, a link will be placed to the name below. Eventually, we will add a map showing all the locations.
The number of taxa given for each plant list counts the number of distinct species and subspecies.
